Ouch! She holds absolutely no punches.

"Waka was a bright-ass kid. Bright as hell. Honors. The s**t that get me about him is that he does this language s**t that he do. He’s from New York. Yeah, he was here since a kid, but he’s different from all the rest of my kids. If you hear the way he talk [compared] to everybody else, you know they come from New York. But [Waka] adapted everything about the South; he really do know here better than he know up there. He was a bright-ass kid. And then he just went astray."

Lady & Plies - Bitch From Around The Way

http://bit.ly/Lady-BitchFromAroundTheWayLADY, born Shameka Brown, has always had a way with words. Whether giving speeches, writing poetry, or just telling a story; the way she told it made you visualize her struggle. "Mama told me I had a slick mouth and it'd get me in a lot of trouble" say's Lady. Even though she was right, it also granted her with the musical ability like no other. Lady didn't really notice her lyrical power until the age of 11.

Lady went from creating her own spins on hot songs to writing her on music. Soon in 2002, she formed a group with 2 friends and started rapping locally mainly at school. “Yep we had lunch room concerts and I was the main attraction" say's Lady. Being well known for her hardcore rhymes and cocky delivery, beating on the tables for beats, and spitting rhymes like she was the headliner at a concert, Lady then realized that she was talented and was serious about doing more with the music she's grown to love.

The lyrical vixen branched off and joined forces with a local Drug Boss and began concentrating on building her music portfolio. Soon after in 2005, the police shut the operation down and Lady was back at square one. Turning to the working force, Lady took a little vacation from music not realizing what fate would her in store for the elevation of her career.

Now in 2009 and 20 years young, Lady said Hasta La Vista to a 9 to 5 and kicks in the door to the music industry full time. With her city, Talbotton, GA and family backing her 100% there is nothing standing in her way of success. Lady's determination and raw talent landed her the attention of business Mogul "Big Gates," who is the brother and manager of National Recording Artist, "Plies". "Lady is going to change the game! Since the five years I've been in this industry there hasn't been, and still isn't; a realer female rapper! So there was no question in my mind to sign her!" say's Big Gates. Also, Plies believes, Lady will lead the new era of female artist and will represent the street "BITCHES!

After signing her deal with the major recording label, BIG GATES RECORDS on April 1, 2010 the young star has been in the studio with no rest. "My work ethics can't be matched, I'm here share my life raw and uncut" says Lady. With her mixtape "Bitch from Around the Way" hosted by "Plies" schedule for release on May 25, 2010, its just a preview to what the talented young lady has in store for the game.

Big Gates Records first lady, who also goes by the name "Lady" is a combination of lyrical and raw. With her raw and in your face lyrics she's sure to make her mark with no time wasted. Lady's stand up, finally there is a voice to represent the strength we posses and who better to tell our story than LADY.

J. Cole - Who Dat

http://i49.tinypic.com/axmpmc.jpg
The rap world is at a crossroads. In the face of shrinking budgets, music executives, resting on their laurels, search out the next YouTube sensation with a catchy hook and dance move in order to amass digital single sales. While many artists have tried to break through despite an industry melt down, few have been met with critical praise. And the applause for those that have has not been loud enough to sway the course of the current rap market. Looking to excel where his contemporaries have failed, North Carolina native J. Cole (born Jermaine Cole) brings promise of a new day in hip hop music.
Raised by his mother in North Carolina, J. Cole's hometown of Fayetteville would provide much of the sights and experiences that would come to shape his sound. Cole fell into rapping at the age of 12 when his cousin from Louisiana spent the summer in Fayetteville, showing him the basics of rhyming. He was instantly hooked. From there he delved deep into the music of hip hop luminaries including Tupac Shakur, Nas and Outkast, taking from them a love for telling stories with an unbridled rigor. Seizing every opportunity to write, at age 15 J. Cole found himself with composition notebooks full of rhymes but no beats of his own to lay them on. Determined to create original songs, he begged his mother for a beat machine so he could produce music solely for himself. She granted his wish and from there, a young Cole spent all his free time creating sounds and songs that would lay the foundation for what his style has evolved to today.
Feeling the need to be heard, J. Cole used college as a tool to chase his dreams. He attended St. John's University on an academic scholarship, choosing the school so that he could be in the heart of the music industry: New York City. After polishing his sound and graduating Magna Cum Laude, J. Cole is dropping his debut mixtape, properly titled "The Come Up" hosted by DJ On Point. A mash up of dusty, soul filled sound beds, raw, energetic drums and an endless range of topics everything from the carefree days of college to the seemingly endless plight of those have-nots scrapping for change. The Come Up puts J. Cole's broad palette of lyrical and production talents on display. "All a nigga wanna do is take his momma from that, but they rather lock us up and make sure we don't come back," he vehemently spits over the cascading keys and triumphant strings of the self produced "Lil' Ghetto Nigga."
With such a diverse display, J. Cole is poised to wake up a dormant industry and cement his name in this game. But more than that, with his debut studio album currently in production, he hopes to change the tide of current rap music, swaying it in a more insightful, meaningful and passionate direction."

2010: BET Awards Recap

A number of rappers and R&B singers were honored tonight (June 27th) during the 2010 BET Awards at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

Queen Latifah hosted the event, which featured several high performances by artists like Alicia Keys, Usher, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Eminem, Drake and Kanye West, who kicked off the 2010 Awards’ show with his song “Power.”

Alicia Keys scooped an award for Best Female Artist, while Young Money Records’ newcomer Nicki Minaj and Drake won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, respectively.

T.I. and Queen Latifah mocked the Atlanta rapper’s 2008 arrest as the pair introduced B.O.B. and Keshia Cole, who performed “Airplanes” with a special appearance by Eminem.

Em continued D12 group member Kon Artis after Keshia Cole and B.oB. Left the stage and performed his hit single “Not Afraid” with a full choir.

Best Collaboration went to Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ single “Empire State of Mind.”

“Thank you so much, to all my people with an empire state of mind, this is for you,” Alicia Keys told fans as she accepted her second award.

Queen Latifah kept the crowd in a good mood in between performances.

For instance, as she introduced Sean “Diddy“ Combs and Dirty Money, Latifah said: "This next performer is only seen in the company of fine women, just like me!"

Diddy followed with a performance medley of “O Let’s Do It” featuring Rick Ross, followed by “Hello, Good Morning” featuring Dirty Money and T.I.

Most of Diddy’s performance was obscured by a thick white puff of smoke that engulfed most the performers on the stage, including Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj’s verses.

Jermaine Jackson paid tribute to his brother Michael Jackson, by introducing Chris Brown, who did his best imitation of the late singer with a medley of his best known songs.

Drake hit the stage and performed “Over,” and brought out Young Jeezy, who rocked his latest single “Lose My Mind.”

LeBron James and Serena took home the Sportsman of the Year Award, while The Black Eyed Peas presented Trey Songz with the Best Male R&B artist.

BET’s chairman Debra Lee honored John Legend with the Humanitarian Award.

“I do a lot of work fighting poverty in Africa, but even here in America in our communities, there is a fight we must win. we know we can do better, we know there are solutions,” John Legend said. “Poverty doesn’t have to be a trap. There’s a lot of money, fame and influence and millions of people watching around the world. I say to all of us, we can do better.”

Prince was honored by Janelle Monae, Esperanza Spalding, Alicia Keys and Patti Labelle, while Chris Brown and Rihanna both won awards in the fan categories.

Ludacris closed the show with “My Chick’s Bad” and “All I Do is Win” featuring DJ Khaled, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Ace Hood and Diddy.

Suge Knight is a wanted man once again

Suge Knight is a wanted man once again. The former Death Row Records head honcho allegedly beat and robbed rapper Yukmouth last night ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

Sources say it all went down at around 10 PM at a Ralph's supermarket in the San Fernando Valley.

According to a law enforcement source, Suge and roughly 10 members of his posse allegedly beat up Yukmouth and then took $92,000 worth of jewelry from him.

Sources say Suge and his entourage are suspects and cops want to question them.

We're also told there's a previous misdemeanor warrant out for Suge's arrest -- which makes it unlikely he'll visit the police department.
